Top Retailers Sign to Kingsgate

Mivan has today announced two more signings to the £50 million Kingsgate shopping centre extension, bringing the total let by floor area to almost 60 per cent.

JJB Sports has taken a 10,124 sq ft (940 sq m) ground level unit, while C&J Clark has secured a lower ground floor 2,495 sq ft (232 sq m) unit.  Both are X year leases. They join fashion high street favourite, New Look, who will trade over lower ground and ground floor in a 17,089 sq ft (1,587.61 sq m) unit and a 69,158 sq ft (6,425 sq m) Debenhams department anchor store which is new to Dunfermline.

The new Kingsgate extension will bring 27 new stores to Dunfermline, strengthening the retail offer of the existing shopping centre, already featuring some of the UK’s most recognised brands - Marks & Spencer, Monsoon, Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, GAME, Superdrug, Argos and JD Sports.

Andy Bain, Eric Young & Co. Director, said:
“These latest lettings clearly demonstrate retailer confidence in Dunfermline and Kingsgate’s ability to attract top retailers.  With almost 60 per cent of floor space already committed, the centre is on course to becoming the premier retail destination in Fife.”

The Kingsgate shopping centre is being significantly extended and refurbished under a major £50 million project by owners, Crosslands Properties, having achieved planning in June 2006.  Already Dunfermline’s main shopping destination, and only 14 miles north of Edinburgh, the extended Kingsgate will almost double the existing retail offer to 370,000sqft, enhancing the retail mix and appeal of Dunfermline.  The development, due to open in Summer 2008, is also supported by a new 700+ space multi-storey car park.

The letting agents for the scheme are Eric Young & Co and Cushman & Wakefield.
